Kirsten Michelle Schnittker (b. 1987) is a dancer and maker who has performed original works for audiences New York City at AUNTS, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Triskelion Arts, Danspace Project's DraftWork series, Movement Research at the Judson Church, and Center for Performance Research, and in Zùrich, Switzerland at Galerie Alex Schlesinger; and has received support through an Emergency Grant from the Foundation for Contemporary Art as well as various artist residencies and space grants from AUNTS, BAX’s Upstart Artist program, Dance New Amsterdam, RoofTop Dance, and Mana Contemporary. In January 2017, Kirsten curated sincere visions & significant tasks, a Food For Thought evening at Danspace Project and later that same year began organizing seasonal dance happenings called Pie and Performance at her home in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Kirsten performs with New York City-based choreographers Yanira Castro/a canary torsi, Hadley Smith, Diana Crum, and Amity Jones. Kirsten has recently enjoyed performing in Hadley Smith's *TANOGRAM* (2018) Michael Portnoy’s *Relational Stalinism—The Musical* (2018), Diana Crum’s *Ghost Tongue Ruler* (2018) and *Blue Studies* (2017), Yanira Castro/a canary torsi’s *Court/Garden* (2016-17) and *NANCY* (2013-15), and Yvonne Rainer’s *Trio A with flags*, directed by Pat Catterson (April 2017). Kirsten has had the pleasure of working with Renée Archibald, Ilona Bito, Carte Blanche Performance, Christine & Luke Hegel-Cantarella, Annette Herwander, Melinda Ring ( *Vast Action* at MR at the Judson Church, November 2017), Andrew Schneider, Tara Aisha Willis, and the A.O. Movement Collective.
Kirsten is training to be a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner at the Feldenkrais Institute of New York and will graduate in 2021.
