Darrian O’Reilly, Worship the Sun King

August 23 & 24 | Stomping Ground LA

Conceived and Directed by Darrian O’Reilly
Assistant directed by Rachel Ho

Set inside the horny, competitive, and unhygienic royal court of Louis XIV, noblemen train in ballet, vying for the king’s favor, yet some of them just don’t have good turnout. Meanwhile, the Squishy Peasants revolt against the King’s new oppressive legislation demanding elegant lines, and local witches are recruited for assassination. Can the king survive the brewing resentment across his land aka “France”? And will his newly standardized dance form, “ballet” stand the test of time?

Made in collaboration with Rachel Ho, Dean Evans, Jessy Morner-Ritt, Adam Carpenter, Brian Byrne, Cecilia Fairchild, and Jessica Hemingway.Special appearances by Kevin Krieger, and Dorothy Dubrule. Featuring a stunning dance chorus of Nola Gibson, Claudia Mayoss, Celine Kiner, Kirsten Michelle Schnittker, and Madison Clark. Sound Design by Rachel Ho. Lighting Design by Kate Hutter Mason.
