Substantial People

Substantial People (working title) is emerging as both an excavation and dictation of behavior, performance obsessions, interiority, memory and revolves around questions of authority, value, and influence. Who decides? Who witnesses? When and how? This work is influenced by Happenings of the late 1950s-60s, Judson Dance Theatre (1960s), Grand Union (1970-76), and recontextualizes ideas of the American West through the lens of film and theatre, specifically utilizing undertones of Oklahoma! (1955), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954), and Signin’ in the Rain (1952).
